Courtesy of Brandon “Habi” Habenstein, Beverage Director at The Kitchen & Bar at Bardstown Bourbon Company in Bardstown, Kentucky, Habi shares a sweet cocktail that is a pure autumn holiday. The Sweet Root Goofin’ which is as fun to say as it is fun to drink – uses a sweet potato syrup, two ounces of wonderful Bardstown bourbon, and a half-ounce of Fernet Vallet that adds a light touch of sweet and spicy to the drink. Ingredients
- 2 oz Bardstown Bourbon Co fusion
- 5 oz Fernet Vallet
- 5 oz sweet potato syrup
- Cinnamon-sweet potato whipped craem
Instructions
Build all ingredients in a Collins glass and fill with crushed ice. Top with whipped cream.
Sweet potato syrup
Dice one sweet potato. Combine 1 pint Demerara sugar with 1 pint water over medium low heat. Stir until crystals are dissolved. Add diced sweet potato and allow to simmer for at least 30 minutes. Strain and chill.
Cinnamon-sweet potato whipped cream
Ingredients
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 oz sweet potato syrup
- 14 oz heavy whipping cream
Instructions
Combine all ingredients and whip.
