How to Take Care and Clean Your Quilt?

Shares

Most quilts can last a lifetime with proper care. One of the bad practices that can ruin a quilt is keeping it in a closet. Quilts are made to be used and displayed in your room!

The creation of quilts requires a lot of time, patience, and effort. This is the reason behind their price tags. So, if you have one, you have to take good care of your quilt.

If you want to buy an excellent quality of quilt, Luxotic has Quilt Cover Sets that will be a good addition to your bedroom. But, you must know how to take care of it properly. Below are some simple tips for doing it.

Use your quilts

To keep your quilt fresh and keep its fabric bouncy and smelling good, you must use it. If you are using another one, keep it in the open air, touching it regularly. Snuggling it from time to time would be enough.

While high-quality quilts are durable, you should not put it in a concealed space, where the sunlight cannot reach it.

Wash it with care

Before thoroughly washing your quilt, check first if you can do a spot cleaning. If it is just a little spill of juice or a touch from a stained hand, try first if you can clean it with a napkin.

On the other hand, if you are a messy person or are using your quilt all the time you are in your room, you can wash it at least once a year. However, if it smells, go ahead and wash it! Although, you can always try a light spray of fabric freshener if you think you are too lazy to do it at the moment.

You can throw it in the machine for some spin, though. But remember to set the washing machine to a delicate or gentle cycle and use cold water. Hot water may ruin its color. Only use mild detergent if you will wash your quilt, and bleach is a big no-no! Furthermore, air dry your quilt if it is possible.

How to keep it from color bleeding?

No matter how colorful your quilt is, always put in a few sheets of color catchers to keep the fabric safe from dye bleeding. Moreover, if you are going to give some of your quilts, make sure to include a small quilt care kit, which includes a special quilt soap and some color catchers.

Can I hand-wash my quilt?

Hand washing is the easiest and the most preferred method of washing the quilt. If you have a classic, hand quilted quilt, it is best to keep it away from the machine to make sure that it will last a lifetime.

Hand washing a quilt is easier than you think. Here’s how:

  • Fill a big tub with cold water and mild detergent.
  • Submerge the quilt in water with gentle agitation for around 10 minutes.
  • Drain the water and refill it with another set of clean cold water.
  • You may add half a cup of white vinegar (distilled) to the water to clear any detergent residue.
  • Rinse with cold water well until there are no suds left.

Quilts are one of the most comfortable bed components that could give you excellent quality of sleep. If you are looking for a top of the line quilts, Luxotic has Quilt Cover Sets that are of incredible quality.

It is important to follow these essential guidelines to keep your precious quilt in the top shape and make sure it will last a lifetime.
